Antimicrobial scaffolds for bone regeneration purposes (MICRO-STOP)
CIBER-BBN
This project tries to advance in the development of new scaffolds with enhanced antimicrobial activity.
We have already developed a calcium phosphate CaP regenerative material coated with an antimicrobial vanillin derivative. In our studies this scaffold resulted effective to kill bacteria and did not display any toxic effect over cells.
Encouraged by these results, in this project we would continue our studies with an in vivo performance test, which would add value to our results by increasing the TRL of this medical device. We think this important step could further attract to future investors or companies.
